REGISTERING TO VOTE
To register to vote in the state of Georgia, you must be:
- A citizen of the United States
- A legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you wish to vote
- At least 18 years of age by election day
And you also cannot be:
- Serving any sentence imposed by the conviction of a felony
- Judicially determined to be mentally incompetent
If you meet all of the above criteria and would like to register to vote, just click here print and fill out a voter registration application from the Secretary of State's office, then mail it in (no stamp required). You will need Adobe Reader to view and print out the form. You can click here to get a free copy of the program you will need. After your application is received and approved, the Secretary of State's office will notify you via snail mail where you need to go to vote on election day. The deadline to register to vote for Scott in the Republican Primary is June 16th.
REQUESTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT
If you are already a registered voter and would like to request an absentee ballot please click on this application, (you will also need a free copy of Adobe Reader), fill it out, and either mail or fax it to the Secretary of State's Office. The Secretary of State's mailing address and fax number are included on the application.
GEORGIA'S NEW VOTER ID LAW
Georgia's new Voter ID law was created in order to combat voter fraud. When you go to vote on election day you all you need to do is present one of the following items in order to vote;
(1) A Georgia driver's license which was properly issued by the appropriate state agency
(2) A valid voter identification card or other valid identification card issued by a branch, department, agency, or entity of the State of Georgia, any other state, or the United States authorized by law to issue personal identification containing a photograph
(3) A valid United States passport
(4) A valid employee identification card containing a photograph of the elector and issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the United States government, this state, or any county, municipality, board, authority, or other entity of this state
(5) A valid United States military identification card containing a photograph of the elector
(6) a valid tribal identification card containing a photograph of the elector
